On a SLT, you spend the majority of your time with MEDLIFE working in Mobile Clinics. A MEDLIFE Mobile Clinic brings free, high-quality healthcare directly to communities who lack access to basic health services. Staffed by local practitioners, clinics offer basic medical treatment and preventative screens, and are designed to find patients who are in need of long-term assistance. On these trips, volunteers shadow medical professionals, help in the running of the clinic, and learn about local medical practices, global medicine and the effect of poverty on health.
Along with working in Mobile Clinics, SLT volunteers will also participate in local development projects, such as the construction of stairs and schools to meet the local communities needs. These projects embody a core aspect of MEDLIFE's MED structure (Medicine, Education, Development), in which students work alongside community members to help improve local infrastructure.

The Mobile Clinic Difference
Bring the Clinic to the Poor: Travel to poor communities to provide care. Offer a large number of medical and health services to members
in the communities we visit.
Partner with Local Professionals: Staffed by local doctors and nurses, who understand local systems and provide culturally sensitive care.
Follow-up Care: Patients with serious or long-term conditions placed in follow-up care program.
Putting Education First: Educate patients on health and self-care topics to raise awareness.
We highly encourage you to visit MEDLIFE's SLT page to learn more.
